FORT WORTH, Texas – Today, the Texas AFL-CIO announced its endorsement of Taylor Rehmet for the special election for Senate District 9

The Texas AFL-CIO Executive Board, made up of delegates from across the state, reviewed the race and voted to endorse Rehmet through the Texas AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education (COPE).

“Taylor embodies what it means to be a union leader — working together to address the struggles of real, everyday Texans,” said Texas AFL-CIO President Rick Levy. “While state parties try to reconnect with working people, Taylor is leading a campaign by and for Texas workers. We’re honored to support him in this important, winnable race.”

Rehmet, a veteran and the president of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Texas State Council, was born and raised in Garland, Texas. His passion for fairness and dignity on the job led him to union organizing, where he was elected president of both his local and state chapters of the IAM. He’s committed to taking the fight for working Texans to the State Capitol.

“As a Texas union leader, this endorsement means a lot,” said Taylor Rehmet, candidate for Senate District 9. “I’m ready to take the fight for North Texas workers to the Texas Capitol. Senate District 9 is more competitive than ever and ready to flip — if we work together to get out the vote.”

Early voting for the special election runs Oct. 20 through Oct. 31, with Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
