Striking United Auto Workers in DFW draw support from Montana Governor Steve Bullock

Montana Governor Steve Bullock joins United Auto Workers’ Strike in Arlington Texas

    1. The strike is happening due to broken down negotiations over GM outsourcing American jobs to foriegn companies to increase company profits which is already at 35 Billion over the last 3 years.

    2. UAW wants a pathway to make temporary workers permanent. These workers currently comprised of 7-10% of employees receive less pay, less benefits, and can remain misclassified as temporary for many years.

    3. UAW previously gave concessions a decade ago to save GM from bankruptcy and GM is now turning its back upon the workers who have never recouped those losses.

Arlington, TX: Montana Governor Steve Bullock will be in Arlington Texas meeting with UAW Local 276 leadership and members. The Governor will be joining the strike line in support of UAW union members at the General Motors facility, 2525 E. Abrams Street, Gate 6. Governor Stephen Clark Bullock (born April 11, 1966) is an American politician, attorney and former professor serving as the 24th and current Governor of Montana since 2013. He is a member of the Democratic Party and a 2020 Presidential Candidate.

Tarrant County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO fully supports United Auto Workers’ strike against the General Motors company. We further insist that General Motors bargains in good faith with the United Auto Workers to ensure that the American workforce receives full-time permanent positions with wages that reflect the profit line of the company, not to be compared to foreign wage rates. The comparison of foreign wage rates create stagnant wages across America and creates pitfalls for all working people who see the costs of living continuously rise while wages do not keep up. General Motors continuous trend of outsourcing work to other countries and the shuttering facilities in America also needs to cease.
